How To Get Designers Like Kate Spade For Less

I have a new favorite dress guys. It's this flirty little number by Kate Spade New York ! It has everything I love in a dress. Comfortable Fabric. Ruffle detail. Exposed Gold Zippers. Totally affordable price tag at only $398.... Just kidding.

So, I didn't completely lose my mind and blow off Hudson's tuition this month. I just found an awesome online consignment shop. My close friends know that I am cheap and don't like to buy anything full price if I can help it. Basically, since I became a parent I have fallen in love with secondhand. Truthfully, it is the only thing that makes sense to me for the kids' wardrobes. So, I've been buying their clothes "gently used" for the last couple of years and it has done wonders for the pocket book and their closets.

However, I had yet to find anything of the like for myself. Until now!

I said in my New Year's post that I wanted to be more intentional about what I put on my body, when I can. Now, yes, I understand that sometimes to jump on a super trendy item fast before it goes completely out of style, you may have to make compromises in the sustainability department (if being on trend is that important to you.) But, when it comes to classic, staples that can last you for years, why not pick up something pre-loved? Seriously...

We have been a pretty wasteful society for a while now and there is a whole industry of "throw-away" clothing that lasts you a minute and then trickles it's way down the thrift store rout and eventually into a landfill somewhere. You can read some depressing stuff about it here, if you're interested. Or you can take my word for it and trust me on this consignment thing. Your budget will thank you. And the environment will thank you!

So, now that I have you on board, (you are on board right?!) what is the best place to look? You can definitely shop local consignment or thrift. But, I've found that to be pretty hit or miss, because something you may want might not be of overflowing abundance in your region. So why not look online from a national database of second hand gems.

For instance, I got this $400 Kate Spade dress from Thred Up for less than $60. And Holland's cute little party dress was only $6. The Original Thred Up price was around $80, but they were running a major discount for people making their first purchase. So, yes, I got a $400 designer dress, a cute dress for my kid and had it delivered right to my door step in no time for Fifty something dollars.

So, if you are looking to upgrade your wardrobe on a budget or give mother nature a sigh of relief you can follow this link to start browsing. They have everything from your favorite mall brands to Louis Vuitton Handbags. Now, just like any consignment store there is a bit to sift through. So, my recommendation is to take advantage of those search filters or just search for a particular brand by name.

Also, once you sign up, you can invite your friends and both of you will earn shopping credits. It is literally a win / win for everyone involved. How bout that?!
